In Genesis chapter 20, the Lord closed the womb of every woman in the house of Abimelech. Verse 18 says, "Abraham prayed for Abimelech, and God healed him. He also healed his wife and his slave-girls, so that they could have children." Abraham was waiting for God to bless him and Sarah with a child. But a situation arose where God expected him to pray for Abimelech and his wives to receive the healing necessary to have children. God answered his prayers and healed them. In chapter 21 of the Bible, it is simply said, "The Lord blessed Sarah, as he had promised, and she became pregnant." It also says, "The boy was born at the time God had said he would be born." Like Abraham, may we pray for people who need healing to receive the miracle. The Bible says the Lord healed Abimelech and his wives to enable them to give birth to children. But for Sarah and Abraham, it is said that God blessed them, and gave them the promised child at His time previously told by God himself.
For some, it is the healing that comes through prayer, but for others (like Abraham), it is the timing of God. May we trust God and wait to see His timing and promises fulfilled in every area of our lives.
Dear God, may we also trust you to bless us like Abraham. May we know that you are the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of generation after generation. May we and our generations, know and trust the Lord always, who never ever fails to fulfill all His promises. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
