Jesus, during his time on Earth, faced numerous enemies determined to disrupt his alignment with God's will. He didn't conform to the conventional teachings of the Pharisees and Saduccees. Despite being well-versed in the Holy words, these scholars failed to recognize Jesus as the Living Word, the embodiment of God's promise—a profound irony. Their extensive knowledge didn't enable them to identify Jesus, leading them to question and attempt to discredit Him, as seen in Matthew 22:34 to 40 when they probed about the greatest commandments in the Law. Jesus replied, emphasizing the essence of loving God wholly and loving one's neighbor as oneself. Had the Pharisees focused on loving God and their neighbors rather than mere study, they might not have opposed Jesus, the embodiment of God Himself. Are we simply memorizing God's word or encountering it daily? Can we recognize Jesus and understand His people? Do we truly love them, or do we unintentionally judge their spiritual standing based on our biblical knowledge? Let's reflect. A kingdom divided against itself cannot flourish. Let us know our God, recognize His people, and respond as Jesus did—with calmness toward those who fail to perceive God's truth. Let us pray for open eyes and hearts to always discern God's presence, remaining composed when questioned about Him or His word. May we genuinely love God and the people He's placed in our lives. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
